Fitting Insulated Slabs

Slabbing one of the bedrooms in my house. Looking for advice to see if I am on the right track.

Fitting a 50mm Insulated slab on 2 walls (Block) and a ceiling.

To slab the ceiling was going to use 4.2 x 75mm Plasterboard screws. Was going to fit a screw every 8” . But start at 2” inch in

from the sides/top/bottom of plasterboard to start.

On the wall was going to use M8 x 90 mushroom fitting one every foot and starting about 4” Inches in on from the sides.

Does that sound Ok or am I missing anything??

Make sure you get fine thread plasterboard screws, the coarse ones don't like self-tapping (that I find).

Galv/steel or nylon mushrooms? I went for a combination - Galv at the top of the boards and nylon elsewhere.

Going to do all Galv/steel mushroom. Are the nylons cheaper or what's the advantage??

As there M8's do you drill 8mm SDS then hammer them home????

Less thermal loss with nylon. Less risk of damp marks coming up as circular spots in humid rooms such as kitchens.

Yes, 8mm SDS nice and easy into the block and then clean out the dust. Then a few strikes of a 2lb hammer to embed the head into the plastering board, then fit the "thermal cap" over the top.

I slabbed a room with insulated board a while ago and used PU adhesive for the wall boards, very quick and easy.

This stuff did a nice job.

If using mushrooms its vital to clean/blow out the hole as Mr Fertiliser :) says above, otherwise you will end up with a bunch of half fitted mushrooms that are a royal PITA to remove.

For the ceiling why are you starting 2inches in? Just fix as you would normal plasterboard.
