Meross (or any other) garage door opener & Alexa

A little help re virtual switches folks...

I have 3 Meross garage door openers. 2 for the garage doors, 1 for the electric gate.

To bypass the need for Alexa to require a pass code, on the advice of someone online a few years back I created some "virtual switches". Which means that when I tell Alexa to open the gate, the instruction instead activates the virtual switch which was programmed to open it. Same for the garage etc, I was able to set up various instructions to open, close, open and then close and so forth.

Anyway, they've stopped working. The Meross units still work, I can control them in the app and I can use the basic lock & unlock commands in Alexa in conjunction with the pin code.

Any suggestions on fixing this, or an alternative workaround? One that doesn't involve HA though...

    Thanks in advance.

Your virtual switches likely lost their connection between Alexa and the Meross devices, possibly after an update. Try disabling and re-enabling the skill or service you used to create the virtual switches, then rebuild your Alexa routines from scratch. If that doesn’t work, create new Alexa routines that directly trigger your Meross openers using voice commands like “Alexa, open the gate,” which can replace the old virtual switches without needing Home Assistant.
