Any thoughts on the garda pushing Danny Healy Rae

I have no time for Healy Rae but I feel that garda would need to be reeducated in how to engage with the public he also manhandled a young girl way over the top behavior

It's not as if he was dealing with a dangerous situation but he could have triggered a reaction

the garda was an idiot. even if he didn't realise it was DHR he had to have known there would be cameras there; and if he was willing to do that on camera, what's he like when there are no cameras present?

It makes you wonder what they learn in Templemore for the year they are there,how in the name of God did he pass training or did he develop an attitude after he left templemore and was posted to the big smoke.

Irrespective of taking a civil action or not, a complaint should be made to the station superintendent or the Garda ombudsman.

There is NO excuse for physical contact as a first resort, except in case of immediate threat to a member of the public, a fellow member, or yourself. And none of those conditions existed.

In fact, taking into account the generally aggressive disposition of the Garda, the general carnival atmosphere ahead of the match, and the Garda's obvious lack of self awareness to be throwing shoves with a thousand people with phone cameras looking on, I'd suggest he'd be much happier in another career.

no, he doesn't. the garda steps sideways towards him to be able to shove him, and extended his arm to do so. it was clearly deliberate.

I suggest you watch the video - or go to specsavers.

The guard very purposely shoved healy-rae. Healy=rae was not in anyway in the way of the guard - so much so that the guard had to move towards him and outstretch his hand to get the shove.

Guard then goes further and shoves the woman who was taking video of it on her phone as she was moving into the crowd.

A little piece of sh1t and there are far too many of these jumped up hitlers in the gardai.

True, no one was physically hurt, but that’s not the point. The Garda actually stepped out of his way and extended his arm just to shove Healy‑Rae, it was unnecessary and came across as a power move rather than crowd control

Nah, not really. He took her by the elbow and practically escorted her to the path. Anyone calling that a manhandling has obviously never, ever been in a situation where someone has actually been manhandled.

I think if had to manage that crowd all day and someone comes roaring and screaming at me I'd be pushing him out of the way too. Danny would definitely have bumped into him in that trajectory. He's wide and spinning around with his arms up.

What part of his job involves giving people a shove? If he had a problem with DHR, he could stop him, advise him, caution him, arrest him or whatever. Giving a sly shove in passing isn't a professional response.

There was absolutely no reason for the garda to push Healy Rae he was moving on and no problem you can clearly see the Garda went out of his way to push him and then threw the bottle away and squared up to Healy Rae

I’m very supportive of the guards usually, and I think that fella was way out of line. Maybe too young and dumb to know who HR was. But the way he ramped up his actions when he knew he was in the wrong was very worrying to see. He was lucky the crowd were in good form and not looking for trouble. That situation could’ve escalated very quickly had it been a different crowd.
