I have a n Lg tv with saorview and and a 28.1 astra satellite feed going into it on a splitter cable

Also have a sat feed going into a Humax Freesat.

    Humax works perfectly

Problem is the satellite feed to the TV only works when Humax is switched on.

Sounds like the tv is not supplying power to the lnb. Its buried away somewhere in a setting is my guess.

Is it a power-passing type splitter? Post a pic if you can.

Ok, thanks for that. I assume there's a combiner somewhere near the dish/ aerial?

So, is there power going from the TV to the LNB? My next step would be to check if LNB power is switched on in the TV, as above.

If yes, disconnect the input cable from the splitter and connect it directly to the satellite input on the TV. Does it power the LNB, minus the splitter?

Splitters/combiners can develop faults. Cables can get damaged and not allow the voltage through.

Thanks, for the explanation. Will check and report back later.

Is that showing power pass on one side only? The markings look that way?

Satellite will only work on the power pass side. If you are using a terrestrial aerial on the same cable, you need one of those splitters on each end.

If the Humax is working, it must be connected to the power pass side. Check the wiring again. To run both the TV sat and Humax, you have to run a second coax.

Some of those Humax boxes have a satellite out on them you could use perhaps instead of the splitter.

The splitter is IN/OUT both ways so power-passing both ways on the satellite side.

These units can act as both diplexer and combiner
