Halfords Battery Guarantee - Anyone Use It?

Has anyone used the Halfords Battery Guarantee and been able to get a replacement battery?

How do they test for "manufacturing defects"? Or is it just a bunch of codswallop?

"The guarantee covers any manufacturing defects which arise within the guarantee period.

In the unlikely event you experience a problem with your battery, please return the battery to us along with proof of purchase.

We'll carry out a complete health check on the battery which will indicate if there's a fault with the battery.

If the battery's found to be faulty with a manufacturing defect, we'll happily replace it for you.

The guarantee on any replacement battery will expire on the original battery's guarantee expiry date."

I had one replaced 3 months outside of warranty. They do an electronic health check on the battery.

I've had maybe 2 replaced under warranty. They checked it and gave me a new one, no questions asked.

They won't replace the battery if it is flat. They run a health check on battery and if it has worn and has high resistance (old) it will fail the test. It won't cover for example left headlights on battery flat, left car sitting for a month battery flat. Car alternator/battery charger bad not covered. You also need proof of purchase years later. You can see reviews online where people brought batteries back and computer said they were ok.

Thanks all. Guess I will just have to try my luck.

TThe last time they gave me the wrong battery. Terminals were the wrong way around and cables wouldn't reach.

When I brought it back the next day to exchange they did a test on it and accused me of using it. It was under 12V.

Silly thing is that they don't do a test when you buy it to verify that it is properly charged in the first place.

This one now has been charged twice. It's now at 11.3V which causes all sorts of electronic gremlins such as being able to unlock the doors but not lock.
