Stuck in the retail trap with no money

As per the title, currently working minimum wage in retail.

It's not making ends meet

Not sure what to do. I'm going back to college in September

Any ideas how I could generate extra cash? I have a motorbike so I was thinking of doing deliveroo on top of the 30 hours a week I'm doing

Im not sure if delieroo is the answer, but certainly, getting a second job is the obvious course of action.

May I ask what retail store you work in? Like just what’s the store brand, not location or anything.

Well if you are already doing 30 hours a week and are going back to college full time that is realistic about as much as you can manage if you want to be healthy and do well in college… You need to give yourself the best chance possible of doing well in college because ultimately it's your way out of your current situation. So you are only stuck in retail if you let yourself down.

Obviously if there is not alternative then you'll need to add extra hours but do you best to try and find something that pays a bit better before you go down that road.

Unfortunately, I don't think an hourly rate in retail is ever going to generate a substantial income for you. Think of your wages more in terms of the business perspective where it is a Labour Cost - they are paying you for your time the same as they pay for water, electricity etc. And as the skills you're offering aren't, I suspect, hugely valuable, and they are probably commonly available, you're not in a strong position to sell them at a higher rate.

Have you checked if you're entitled to any benefit payments etc?
