It's pretty obvious @gameoverdude that the money will not be returned to people who contribute if the site goes down, which looks the likely outcome.

It's a gamble, gamble responsibly as they say.

I see your point about wanting the official line, and without that, it's speculation from other posters.

But read between the lines, the likelihood here is that the site goes out of business and your money helps ease the costs for the owner(s). That's what you get out of it more than likely.

If you're ok with that then contribute, if not, then don't.

It's really quite interesting to see that the people who could come on here, answer the question an stop the nonsensical postings are silent and to a large degree that's how they've been through out this entire 'subscription campaign', instead leaving it to various concerned parties and 'save boards evangelists' to try and drum up support.

One could suggest that it goes to show how just how bothered the owners are about the fate of the site compared to the users.

Might subscribe for a month soon, but definitely no longer than that unless there's some sort of timeline laid out, it's been obvious from early enough on we were never going to reach the target.

Agreed, the problem is the people paying to try to save the site by subscribing and those trying to promote it. If only we had more people doing demanding full furnished accounts and comprehensive long term sustainable plans , the site would be fine.

I’m not here to advertise anything, I subscribed and it works or it doesn’t , I’m at peace with that. Some of you need to go over yourselves.

I suppose the big issue is that the subscription campaign has been set out as if it's all or nothing. Either the required amount of money is raised or boards goes bust. Which implies that if €99k of the €100k was raised it still wouldn't be enough and boards still closes. On that basis, it's perfectly valid to ask what happens to the money if the target isn't reached.

My assumption is that there is a target in mind that isn't the 100k. If that is met then there is enough money in the kitty to keep the site running for another year or whatever. Which does then lead to what happens next year, but that's a problem for another day.

There is also a more cynical view that could be taken - if the target is not reached the owner can keep the money anyway to pay off other debts or whatever and still close the site. So then people who contributed to save the site got nothing back and the owner has managed to clear some of the debts (possibly to himself, not sure).

The point of it all is that a simple and clear message from @Boards.ie: Odhran or @Boards.ie: Mike would have solved this when this subscription drive started but either because they don't care or don't want the real answer to be shared, that hasn't happened. In the vacuum of no information, rumours and theories grow.

And all of this has been discussed ad nauseum. Everybody knows the issues posters have with the communication and lack of transparency. I agree with alot of the arguments that you are summarising, as do many of the subscribed posters trying to promote the sub service.

Its the spamming of the thread with the same questions (demands) and people trying to create an "us v them" situation that I am calling out. I dont see how this is helping and if you are not trying to help, you are either posting in bad faith or indirectly spoiling the efforts of others to promote the subscription service.

Ironically , this post is a potential example of a bad faith argument. I never said anybody questioning the sub process is doing so in bad faith. You’ve simply cut and paste elements of my posts to paint the picture you want to project. Alternatively you don’t understand my post, it’s one or the other.

I’d imagine this sort of interaction is one of the reasons a lot of us either don’t engage here or get fed up with interacting with some of yee. I will bow out of here once I’m happy nobody else tries to misrepresent my post.
