    My 50" Samsung TU8000 has failed. Turning itself on and off like it's a lighthouse. Quotes for replacement screen approx. 270 with 1 year warranty. So, although I hate this culture of not fixing anything, it's probably cheaper/more sensible to buy a new tv.

    To someone who has no clue and as little interest, any top tips?

    50" was too big so I'm thinking around 43"? A decent warranty. Any brands to stay clear of? Any suggestions?

    Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on it either…..

    Check out LG's OLED range in the sub 50 inch size. They're not mental money and the picture quality can't be beat. I got one last year for about a grand.

    Try pick a TV that comes with a 5 year warranty from the shop. Lg if possible

    Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

    Wait for next bank holiday. The electronics ships always have discounts on TVs then, especially previous year's models. I got a 48" LG OLED a few years ago like this. If you haven't tried one ... it's like going from dial up to broadband.
