    Listening to all of this recalling of violence, intimidation, control, belittling, threatening to kill her, etc, etc. And this thug was sentenced in November, and is being released in January. That's January, next year. WTF is wrong with our justice system?

    Before retiring, Judge O'Kelly warned that Mackessy can expect a "lengthy custodial sentence" for his attack. Mackessy will be sentenced next month.

    Anthony Mackessy has been in custody since April. A sentence of less than 1 year is not lengthy. The maximum sentence could have been 10 years.

    I was reading elsewhere that he's in the employment of the HSE and they gave a character testimonial. I've seen in high profile cases where state institutions gave character testimonials on behalf of defendants and were publicly lambasted.
