What is this cable.

I am just trying to identify a cable.

The foreground is the copper telephone cable, likely to be replaced by fibre.

Behind that is a cable with a white and a green wire. I am just wondering what that cable is, before I consider letting fibre people work here. It seems that it might be an earth.

They are data cables, those connectors are called jelly crimps, they are for used for joints on such cables.

So these are terminating the green and white cable in the background?

I had wanted a data cable here to the point where a fibre modem might be installed.

If you can remove the back box, that will help no end in finding out what they are.

My guess is they are both Cat 5/6 cables in kopex tubing

Thanks for that. That would be OK.I suppose what I had been originally intending was a box with the phone cable and another with the data cable, the single box is less clear.

the 2 cables in the back are most likely a power cable to sockets(white) and an earth(green)(looks like 10mm maybe to earth rod/gas boiler outside)

They are taped together with brown insulation tape

Thank you. The earth rod is a candidate as it is nearby.

The white seems rather slender to have several cores to serve sockets, but there are sockets nearby.

Mgh be CAT5, not sure why it's bundled with an earth though, but maybe it's not a noisy neighbour in terms of EMF.
