My kids iPad clock on the Home Screen has just turned to rainbow colour, I assume it’s for pride month how do I turn it back to normal, can’t seem to find a way in settings, had a look on google and doesn’t look easy, there must be an easier way.

Also is there a way to stop these things automatically happening?

Screentime is doing more lasting damage to your kids than a rainbow colour scheme.

Get rid of the iPad. Problem solved.

he rarely gets it, going on a journey tomorrow, we didn’t change the clock, Apple obviously pushed it onto them.

He’ll get rid of it himself if he sees it by bouncing it off the ground, a 10yr old freaked out by rainbow colours isn’t something I had on my being a parent bingo card.

I don't understand what the issue is? It's just the same clock in different colours, why is he freaking out???

same clock in pride colours, don’t want to quote him but he’s pretty aggressive about it, he’ll let fly if we pass a flag in the car for example, I kinda know what’s caused it as his friends are pretty similar minded on the subject and it’s all related to something they got a bit freaked out by around this time last year. Not getting into it but can understand why they’re kicking back.

I might call Apple about it tomorrow for a solution and advice on how to prevent it happening again.

Or maybe you could use it as a teachable moment? Obviously I don't know the full context, but perhaps it's an opportunity rather than an issue.

The whole story sounds made up and contrived to generate an argumentative thread.

I have 2 Apple devices here that I use daily for years and the clock or wallpaper has never updated to a different theme without me changing it through the settings.

If this is true you need to have a gentle chat with him that it's not a big deal if some people are gay. You might mention that these days it's not considered acceptable to be so intolerant of a group of people. You should definitely use the opportunity to reassure him that any child of yours would be just as loved and valued and respected if they were gay. I strongly suspect he needs to hear that last bit loud and clear.

    Long press on Lock Screen

    Customise

    Lock Screen

Press inside border of Lock Screen clock

    Choose colour

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

You have my sympathy, you have a lot bigger problems in store if that's the case…

He’s a great kid, I’ve no concerns about him, it was a pretty unique situation caused this attitude with the local kids. It’ll pass.

That is not normal behaviour for a 10 year old, ignore it at your perl and you may find youself in the four courts someday in the next 10 years with him and his mates charged with serious assault or worse.

A group of 10 year olds are already triggered and aggressive about a rainbow flag and you seem fine with this as "it'll pass".

I think you need to have a serious word with your son and the parent's of the other mini tates that are being raised.

You might want to ask yourself what else he’s watching on that iPad. A 10 year old in Ireland in 2025 flying into a rage every time they see a rainbow flag is pretty weird behaviour.

Also Apple’s clock widget doesn’t flip to any new colours schemes unless they’re set.

it’s been off for a while, I was using the developer build on it, probably from around April, I’m assuming that’s it.

It would be weird behaviour without knowing the cause, I do and so do other parents and we’ve dealt with the source, there’s just a toxic association now with the flag and the local boys due to one person. We’ll explain more to them about all the colours as they get older, now is not age appropriate.

What if a person is Muslim and this appears on their iPad. Surely anything promoting LGTB is against Islam

They're 10 years old, not 4. Very easy to explain what the flag means to them now.

Why leave it for their hatred and aggressiveness to continue and fester?

amazingly this is the only mention on the whole internet that assumes the rainbow clock on the ipad is anything to do with "Pride Month".

There doesnt seem to have been any instruction from apple to change clock settings to the rainbow colours.

Seems the triggering of this kid by colours is an extremely worrying occurrence.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Switched on enough to run a developer build on his ipad which 99% of ipad users wouldn't even be aware of their existence but can't figure out how to change the clock. Ok…
