Hi All. I have a mobile home on the north coast (Co. Antrim) since I lived in Belfast.

Now that I've moved to Dublin, I would like to move the mobile to a site more convenient, in Wicklow or Wexford.

Does anyone know of any sites in either of these counties that would permit me to bring my existing mobile home onto their sites?

The caravan is about 15 years old, but in very good condition.

I fully expect a fee would need to be paid.

Which is it, a caravan or a mobile home?

Well, in the north we call it a static caravan, but down here everyone seems to call them mobile homes.

It's a 3-bedroom Willerby Winchester and stays all year round on a fixed plot in a caravan site.

It is a mobile home. A caravan is portable and towed behind a vehicle.
Some of the holiday parks only allow mobile homes they sell themselves onto their site. They won't allow you bring your own mobile home in.

I just had a look around to see cost of moving and how mobile home retain their value. Not having a clue about the subject it sounds worse than owning a boat which I also know nothing about.

The seem to devalue very quickly and expensive to dispose of too.

As Claw Hammer points out, the big issue is that most sites only allow you on if you buy a mobile home from them. As I wouldn't get much trying to sell my existing one (even though it's in great nick), I had hoped to find a site that might allow me to bring mine onto it. Of course, I would fully expect that they would want a fee for this privilege, probably equivalent to the profit they would make by selling me a mobile home/static caravan. But that would be better than getting very little for mine, and then having to stomp up a large amount for a new one.

Are they even going to want your old mobile home on their site at all. It isn't all about the money they make but just about what they think may end up abandoned on their land. How long is the life expectancy left on the mobile home?

I don't know much on the subject so just curious. A relative does sell them and they seem to make a lot of money on selling them new and disposing of the old ones.

I know of a mobile home park in the west of Ireland which has a 19 year rule. Only mobile homes of less than 19 years old are allowed on their site.
Also, they only allow mobile homes they sell themselves, on the site.
