Mixing F5000 modem and wi-fi 6 extenders...workable?

I already have 500Mb/s FTTH from Eir and two wi-fi 6 extenders in use which work well.
Just received a 5Gb/s F5000 wi-fi 7 modem as part of new contract and wondering could I just replace the Eir Fibre box with the new 5000 leaving the extenders in place? Would there be an issue with SSID's?
My current cabling is CAT5e so I reckon I would need to replace the section from the ONT to the modem to take advantage of the higher speed but all other cables should be OK?
    Any thoughts/ideas welcome.

You might be on GPON still if you are on 500Mb/s and an engineer might have to come just to swap out your ONT to XGS-PON, it’ll just be a bigger ONT. Or do you already have the new router and has 5Gb/s been enabled already?

The extenders should still work, you’ll have to change the SSID of both of them to the same as the new eir router, your devices might be hesitant to change over as it will be WiFi 7 vs 6.

Without some kind of “mesh” setup, you’re never guaranteed that devices will roam correctly as there is no help for devices in handing off to each other and is left completely up to the device whether it changes.

Eir has WiFi 7 extenders that might be a better option for you and should help your devices hand over to each other.

Yes I already have the router and have the 5Gb speed as the upload speed is now 250Mb/s. Can’t measure the download speed as I have nothing capable of that speed even checking at the ONT.

Okay yeah plug it in and give it a go and see, just change the SSID of the extenders to the same as new eir router’s SSID
