I have been using the "delete cookie" function for years to automatically be logged out of gmail. It appears this no longer works over last 2 months. Is there a work around as security wise it is problematic at work to have others with essentially access to your gmail account.

Its a serious flaw in gmail that they don't allow auto logout.

on a related topic we have gmail admin account at work and want to put 2FA on same. Do you know if I can put 2fa on multiple phones for a shared work account. IS that feasible to improve security but not render it inaccessible by having only 1 phone with authenticator on it. thanks

Do you not have seperate logins to devices or are you using shared logins?

Seperate personal logins to PC's coupled with people activily locking their screens or autolock of the device would pretty much negage needed to force logout of Gmail.

The other option is to log in to gmail in "incognito" mode - doesn't retain any information at all.

    On the other matter.

What does a gmail admin account mean?

its a central email which multiple people use . currently remains logged in most of the time on several desktops if we want to beef up security then need multiple people to have access to this account for admin purposes. that would mean 2fa on the account and being able to generate codes on multiple phones otherwise unworkable re: remote login etc.

We use shared logins re: Pcs

Yeah, you can setup multiple phones with the same MFA. Note it reduces security a bit, but still a million times better than not having it.

Google MFA, the QR code is what is called TOTP, Time based One Time Password.
The QR code is just a string that when "multiplied" by the time gives you a 6 digit code.
You can scan the QR code on multiple devices, or, click "reveal code" normally underneath the QR code to show the seed, and you can add that to your password manager.

Hard to beef up security without looking at this first imo.

In relation to the shared mailbox. Why don't you just assign full delegate access to it to the other Gmail accounts in use?

Stick MFA on the 'single accounts' and you're in a better position than you are now.....

Again, completely depending on what exactly you are trying to achieve and current process....
