How do I Know If Ownership Has Been Transferred?

I recently sold a car privately.

The buyer and myself both signed the form and he said he'd send it to Shannon.

This was about a month ago.

How can i find out if the ownership was actually transferred?

I just did that and see that the ownership has not been transferred.

I wonder what my options are now,the guy seemed fairly honest.

He obviously didn’t send it then. You shouldn’t have given him the logbook

I have a pic of the paperwork jointly signed by both of us.

It was his idea to take the pic,I really felt he was a genuine guy and travelled a long distance to collect car.

I'm hoping he just hasn't got around to it.

The correct process when selling a car privately is for the seller to send the signed logbook off, not hand it to the buyer to do so unless they are exporting it.

Looks like the buyer hasn't bothered sending it off so ownership is still in your name most likely. If you have the buyer's name and address then you can request a replacement logbook and then fill it out with the buyer's details and send it off to the Department of Motor Vehicles as per original correct process.

Looks like ive messed up here.

I just had a look back at the pic aswell,I have the guys name but not address.

A bit naive on my part perhaps but hoping he still will transfer it.

If not do I have any options?

If he didn’t put his address on the logbook he’s definitely not posting it. Check Donedeal and see if the car is for sale, he could be a trader who didn’t want to add an extra owner

Contact Shannon and they will give you a form to fill out declaring that the car is no longer under your ownership. It might require a stamp from the Gardai but Shannon will tell you for sure what is needed.
