Removal of log cabin

    Hi everyone,

I have a log cabin that I urgently need removed from my property. Basically it doesn't have planning permission and we need it gone.

I am trying to find a company that remove/demolishes these. Here's some info on the cabin:

    • 9m x 4m log cabin (3 room layout)
    • Walls 77mm thick
    • 7 years old
    • Connected to electricity & plumbing
    • On concrete ground

Given it's a permanent structure I assume it will be hard to remove for someone else to reuse - so at this point we just want to demolish and scrap it.

Anyone know any company that demolishes + removes, or have experience similar to ours?

    Thank you!

There won't be any company that specifically demolishes these. Options are either contact the original supplier and see if they can help dismantle for for-reuse, Or arrange a demolition contractor.

Why do you need to remove it urgently?

Or someone may take it down for free, to use themselves. Paying to get that demolished and disposed of, won't be cheap… assuming you have read or side access, which you must do with something that large...

You could just leave it or apply for retention permission...

Removal does seem a drastic choice. Has there been an order made, or is it pressure from a neighbour accompanied by a solicitor's letter or some thing like that?

Weeks? No idea where you are getting that from. It will have to go to bill has to be drafted, go to public consultation, be signed into law. If they say 3-4 months, allow 6-8 months.

And even then, people assuming it will be a blanket free-for-all are likely in for a surprise. It's a slight adjustment of the exemptions.

Agreed, it's still to go to public consultation yet.

Id be surprised to see it become law this year.

The SI might be signed this year, but I'd imagine the applicable date will be 01/01/2026

Agree with the above and just to add the possibility of a court challenge by some group or other could push the implementation date back by months or possibly a year or more.
