This morning I received the attached letter telling me that my Phonewatch alarm is obselete and that it will not be capable of being monitored from 25th August 2025. It is a wired alarm system initially installed in 1994 with a HKC panel which was upgraded to sim card calling four years ago.

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thanks.

When I use to install P.W. systems they upgraded the chips to get a verified alarm from the alarm system.

The likes of the 6/10, 8/12 are abolete years so dont know why they are giving an august 31st 25 deadline only now.

You also have a GSM installed so no phone line used for communications.

Parts, like keypads, pcbs cant be got so maybe that is what they are saying.

IMO you would have a few options.

Move to another provider and use the alarm system in place till a component that is obsolete goes.

Upgrade the control panel and keypad and communicator now and use all the wired devices you have in place.

This would be my preferred option as if something else goes faulty you can replace sensors and the likes easily.

See what type of system they are offering and price to compair both.

Does your system in place cover windows and doors with motion detection backup?

    Hi Altor.

I just checked and the system we have was upgraded in 2008. The keypad is a HKC and the alarm covers 3 door open contacts, 11 window vibration sensors and 3 pirs. Phone communication was changed to mobile sim 4 years ago when we went from copper landline to VOIP.

Its very strange how they are only saying this now.

Its also better they said it now than if something happens on the system are you are left without service or the alarm.

Get a quote from another provider or two for the cost to replace. We found Best Security to be very good with HKC kit.
