This is a two lane section on the Howth road, with both lanes going straight. Left lane is left turn also, right lane has no right turn, so straight ahead only.

When you proceed North past the garage, the two lanes merge into one. The right lane disappears and merges into the left. Most people use the right hand lane because the left has a filter for those turning left. However, if there's nobody queuing in that lane, I often just mosey on up to the ASL and wait for the lights to turn. Almost every single time, I'll get some sort of reaction from some idiot in the right lane who can't read the signs on the road and/or poles and thinks I'm jumping the gun. I've even had lads put the boot down to beat me to he merge.

Once, I was pulled over by a guard from Raheny who told me I'd broken the ROTR and that was a left turn only lane. I'd like to say he was suitably admonished when I walked back to the junction with him and showed him he was wrong but…….we all know exactly how that conversation went, given our native boys in blue.

OP: keep doing the right thing, even if others are not. If there's an incident and you're the one following the law, you're in the clear.
