I've 8 months left on my Virgin Broadband only contract. They cannot provide service at my new apartment.

Is there anyway to get out of the contract or pausing the contract for several months then restarting it?

They will probably waive the cancellation charge for you, it's in their T&Cs that they can charge cancellation fees if services are not available at your new address. But I was able to get the fees waived a few years ago when I moved.

I'm pretty sure they asked me to fill out the move form online anyway and said they'll send someone out to have a look at the area, whether they actually did I don't know. But they came back and said no we can't provide service then with a bit of pushing they waived the charges.

Even if you do end up having to pay, you could switch to eir and they'll give you the cancellation fee back as credit on your account. I think the Virgin Media cancellation charge is €150 and eir give back up to a maximum of €200.

Rang up Virgin today and after 20 minutes got through to the most infuriating agent going. She said only thing to do is transfer the account to someone else or pay the €150. I asked if there was any way to pause the account or waive the fee considering I can't get service and she just kept repeating herself instead of answering the question and saying no.

Yeah they do have it in their T&Cs. Have you tried to send in the move form?

Would moving to eir and getting the €150 back as credit be an option?

I can't even get to step two to fill out the move form.

I agree it's in their T&Cs, I still think it should be waived considering I'm happy to go back to Virgin once I'm back in the apartment. If I have to pay the fee I will, but it's more the agent attitude which stunk

I used an eircode that does have service, which then made the move form appear for me so I've filled it out.
