Is there anyone who can wake up a lithium battery that hasn't been used in two years.

Get a similar voltage working battery (can use regular AA or D cell to make up the voltage. Connect+to+,-to- and leave for 30min

This will force charge it enough for the battery charger to detect the polarity and start charging

Making up a battery pack of the same voltage and connecting it to the battery in the way you suggest - how will that differ from plugging in the charger that came with the device?

I don't think the OP has lost the charger, I think the battery simply won't accept a charge. Can't see your solution doing anything for him.

It's a fact of life that a lithium battery which is not getting charged regularly enough will eventually die or the battery capacity will diminish to the point where the appliance is effectively redundant.

Thanks everyone. It's a shame that the supplier doesn't advise the seller that you should charge it every now & then although it's just common sense to do so. Very keen to sell another new battery though!

This method does indeed work when the battery voltage drops below the charger voltage sensing threshold, on chargers that have this setup, and charging wont start.

I have often did it myself. However, more often than not, the battery is often greatly reduced in capacity, and needs replacing.
