    What are your fond memories?

    I miss the banlist.

    The streamlined, non-lagging website.

The enter from the prison forum.

The ability to quote a portion of someone’s post so people could know what specific thing you replied to.

The site works pretty well at the moment, on the iPhone anyway.

Is it still giving trouble to legacy desktop users? Can’t remember the last time I’ve accessed the site that way.

Who gives a sh1t? We're all just here when we're a bit bored to fill in a few minutes?

There's actually someone who's put a bid in using my daughter's plan this week! 🤣 Have been discussing it with them. I don't think I'll ever update those people in that thread. Leaving them hanging is making them angrier.

The chubby name for mods. Search.

And as mentioned, the Valentines lists, seeing who thanked you (and it not being limited to just ten being visible) and dear old :pac:

When we had a comment box that just did its simple job. Those were the days my friend.

That’s what I miss , seeing who thanked your posts .

I could write a long list, but I don't want to lose my reply when the site shuts down for 30 mins at 2am

^ and there would be a list of all the people in each forum, at the same time you're posting.

I tried writing a GreaseMonkey script to reinstate :pac:, at least for me. It worked but had some odd side effects. :pac: :pac: :pac:

Excuse my ignorance but what's ":pac:", code for an emoji?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,473 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Bring back :pac: and bring back the ability to comment on small portions of a post.

Oh and an easy way to see who is the mod for a forum, and having mods respond to and react to reported posts.

Ya, it was a little pacman emoji. Very useful in certain circumstances.

A relic of a kinder gentler time on the Internet before the twitters, tiktoks, instas and reds.

I refurbished the bathrooms based on advice here that a plumber wrote years earlier, a world of information could be found :-)

Being able to view your posts based on forum or most thanked.

Having the Thanks tab on the homepage so you could see the most thanked posts that day. I found a treasure trove of odd but interesting threads in forums I'd never usually visit that way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,048 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

I think the downvote got rid of at least kept some of the rubbish off the site. Everything just seems to descend into pointless arguments these days. No idea why it was removed.

There was never a downvote on boards that I remember? It must have been very short-lived and a long time ago if it was there at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,467 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

I don't remember a downvote either - but I absolutely agree with the fact that everything seems to descend into bickering and completely derailed threads.

I also miss the "most thanked" bit - it was a great source for random browsing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,755 ✭✭✭✭Dial Hard

I don't remember a downvote system either, and I'm around almost as long as Miamee. (Closed my previous account after I got doxxed, before anyone feels the need to point out my join date!)

There was a downvoting type system extremely far back. 2005 at the latest. That's when I first joined and I think it had been dismantled by then but people talked about it every so often.

You could bookmark the forums you frequently viewed so you could jump from one to the other in a instant. I bookmark them in my browser now which isn't as slick.

I liked being able to see a list of what forums people posted in, it gave you a better idea what what they are like as a person.
