Weanlings or Calfs?

I have been buying Calfs the past few years, but this year I’m a month behind so I’m not sure wether to buy Calfs now or but handy bucket fed weanings around October say approx 170 to 200kgs. With the way things are going at the moment what kind of money would Hereford bulls cost next October?or should I buy my Calfs and feed them a bit stronger to make up for the month behind?

Done the same as yourself last year I was to late and them I bought 250kg Hereford weanling bulls for 750 same cattle now would cost 1200. I am hoping to buy some this year maybe in June or July around 150kg not sure what I will have to give but it will probably be 700 plus

Did you buy Calfs this year?

Last year around early October you would buy 200kgs Herefords for anything between €550 to €600, i presume these will be close to €800 this year?

also if you bought a month old calf now and done him well and gave him one kgs of nuts what weight should he be the first week of October?

no I didn’t buy anything yet I am gonna wait and buy reared calves I don’t have time with work to rear them. If you bought month old bulls now I would think they would be between 180-230 If there getting a good doing
