Have a 2014 Volvo V40 1.6 D2 and went to leave home today but immediately got a DTSC error. Tried driving it a small bit but the steering wheel was shuddering and there was very little power like under 2k revs and the car wouldnt accelerate beyond about 30kph. Turned around and parked it up to then see also an engine service warning.

Anyone know what this could be? Ive googled around and others with similar symptoms have had to replace the fuel injector. Im hoping its not that as believe them to be an expensive fix. If it is do you typically replace just one injector or all 4 at the same time? And parts aside what would be a guideline for labour costs on such a job, have never had an injector problem before so not sure how big a job it is but would like an idea before speaking to a mechanic. TIA.

That's a PSA DV6C engine, plagued by injector issues, changed all 4 on the missus car a while back, cost €1200 for 4 injectors, clamps, bolts and leak off pipes. Labour was free of course.

They're very easy to access and usually come out pretty easily too so labour shouldn't be too much, i took my time cleaning out the injector seats and it took about 2hrs for the full set to be done.

At a garage you're probably looking at approx €350 for each injector.

A good way to narrow it down to injector issues is try putting the foot down and if it goes into limp mode and returns to normal when you turn car off and back on again then it's likely an injector not being able to supply to requested fuel volume.

The fact you have a DSTC error on at that same time could suggest it might be an electrical issue.

I believe that car has electric power steering too, so it would stand to reason it's electrical.

Impossible to know by a forum, so you'll need to get it look at (and scanned) by mechanic.
