Apologies for the list I posted. To my defense, I had no idea there was an online list and a shop list, just wanted to help. I asked the Boards to remove it because there is nothing I can do to modify it or delete it 🙈

So, going for the PAYG option in the store, stick to confirmed phones on this thread, not my list. Stay away from Motorola, Nokia, Huawei, and OnePlus.

No need to apologise, it's a lucky dip on all the terms of the offer from mine and everyone else's experience. Nearly none of the shops have the same terms and make it up as they go along.

I visited same store yesterday but the executive told me that if i will take bill pay plan then for that they have pixel 9a in stock and will offer trade in. But for pay as you go they dont have pixel 9a in stock. As I wanted the trade in offer for prepay I was not able to get the trade in offer for pixel 9a. My bad luck. It seems that it totaly depands on store and the executive whether they will offer trade in for pay as you go customer.

Just wanted to share my experience for same store.

has anyone tried an older google pixel such as a 3? when i follow the trade in site, they initially say '12e' for the value. i went ahead with the screen test, which passed, but then the value dropped to 0e saying 'sorry we're unable to offer a value for your device, try recycling in-store'. i don't want to visit the store if there's a chance it won't be accepted. it works fine, just older than a few of the devices already listed here.

It`s Vodafone, which means pure lottery. A sales assistant can change T&Cs on the spot. Try Vodafone store in the Limerick city centre, you might get lucky there. Strategy is don`t say you want to trade in, but ask if 9a is in stock and say you want to buy it and then offer your phone for trade in and be prepared to switch number to Vodafone.

Why would you have to switch the number to vf? I thought it was taking a new number from them and then switch sim cards.

Good to know Cex units work for trade-in — that opens up some budget-friendly options. Might give it a shot!

I bought a Pixel 3a for €75 from CEX on Liffey St. It had no charge so they charged it for 20 minutes to confirm it worked. I took it out of the bag and walked around the corner to the VF store on Henry St. and they took it. I had to buy €20 credit (on a voucher) and take a sim so total cost of the 9a was €217 (plus the €75 to CEX). I have my Pixel 8a on adverts if anyone is interested🙂. Also the €20 voucher if anyone wants cheap credit.

Got my Pixel 9a with trade in offer 200e + 4e for the Pixel 3a. They charged 10e for the SIM on PAYG and gave me 20e credit so all in 225e. Someone on here was looking to buy credit? DM me if you still want it!

Personally, a sales rep asked me to switch my non-Vodafone number to Vodafone. This varies by store. Official T&Cs does not require number switch, go figure.

I showed the offer details from the same web link to the sales executive and specifically mentioned it is clearly written in offer " In store only for pay you as go customer "

To this he replied we have only stock which is only alloted to bill pay customers and stock is not available for prepay customers.

I asked about it in Waterford and the guy had never heard of it. Not surprising as nobody working there would be employable anywhere else.
