Registration certificate - Wrong information

Hi,

I see the car I am about to buy from a garage/dealer is registered with a wrong number of seats (6 instead of 7) and year of manufacture 2019 instead of 2014 based on the Reg. Number 14XXXX.

Is this a mistake so critical to be resolved and if so, can it be changed once it is put on my name?

Get the garage to sort it with Shannon before you buy it.

Dont buy til it's right.

Garage will say they will sort it once you agree to buy but my terms would be pay deposit, then they get cert altered, then finalise deal once reviewed.

I don’t think it really matters tbh. Makes no difference if theres minor errors on the logbook.

Agreed, but potentially unnecessary hassle down the road for new owner. Easy for dealer to rectify now with Shannon. Absolutely no reason for them not to get the issue corrected.

Ya but year of manufacture recorded as 19 on a 14 car is abit nuts and would need correcting.

I agree it's not of great importance but I'd want it right.

To be honest I actually had to check if year of manufacture was even a thing on the logbook. And indeed it is. But it seems like it of no importance and I assume a lot of cars particularly imports won’t even have a year of manufacture on the logbook.

But by all means try get the dealer to sort it, I just wouldn’t let it be an absolute deal breaker personally.
