I'm 3 years into owning an MG ZS (on my second one) and it's been a great car. It's my first EV so the affordability was the main driving factor. I was a little concerned that MG would be a "budget car" but outside of the fast charge speeds I can't fault it.

I drove past the MG garage on Saturday and they had one around the back. I had a very quick look. Also watched both of your videos 😀.

I'd love to update it to this. Will have to see what kind of trade in they'll give for a 232 ZS.

Was driving past MG in Enniscorthy this morning and they had one in the showroom. Might pop in later on to have a look if they are open on my way home.

I had a quick test drive of the exclusive model (the only one available) in Mahon point. 1st thing - the sales man knew nothing about the car - a good start. The car is comfortable but the there's a significant delay in acceleration, even in the sport mode. Its very similar to my 1.0 TSI golf with dsg where the gearbox thinks for a second before releasing the clutches. I was a bit miffed by the delay in the MG, none of electric car I've driven before I had such a delay. Next thing - it didnt feel like a fast car - on a paper its a 0.5s faster than my MY RWD. Dunno, i didnt like the acceleration bit and I'm afraid that the 125 kW will be dead slow (vs 170 kW in the top spec). The regen is weak as well, although the car does stop with one pedal driving. Menu is very cluttered (tesla bias, i know) and the screen is laggy. Lane keeping assist doesn't have a dedicated but and has to be programmed into the one of the favourite buttons on the steering wheel. The major turn off - no heated seats on any trim apart from the top one. You also loose 360 drg cameras, wireless charging etc. The top trim is smth along 38.5k with ab 2k delivery (robbery). Overall, not a patch on my ID.3 or tesla i owned before.

To be fair, its so cheap for what it is that you wouldn’t really mind going for the top spec long range model. I’ve driven an MG5 and the regen could be increased or decreased. Didn’t notice any lag either

TBH this is the 1st time I've driven an MG so if I would spend more time i probably would set everything right:) The acceleration lag is smth i couldn't get over it was so noticeable. It wasn't that the car was accelerating slowly, it wasnt accelerating at all.

selling very well the MG here aren’t they? Seem to give a lot for the money. Was parked near one recently in the gym car park and honestly at first glance I thought it was a Lexus small suv until I walked by and checked the badge

I was watching Derek's Coast-to-Coast video below, and noticed that he mentioned the MG S6 is coming soon.

I see some photos of it were leaked from the EuroNCAP testing, basically a bigger version of the S5. Due to be officially launched before the end of the year. With the S5 being 30k-35k depending on trim, I'd imagine the S6 will be around 35k-40k?

The S5 seems good from Derek's review anyway:
