A fine practical 7 seater i'm sure that Galaxy is but I couldn't look at that hideously dated center dash / screen layout every day … Dear god thats nasty.

    What about a Dacia Jogger?

If at all possible I'd rather not spend 20 grand on a car that I'll rarely drive. Ideally I'd like something with 3 large seats in the middle so 2 car seats and someone could sit comfortably.

A lot of the time it's just myself, wife and the baby. Other times though there will be 2 teenage boys and our daughter and granddaughter but very rarely

Toyota Alphard has 6 seats 2+2+2 setup and all fairly big too. Well worth looking at for a petrol hybrid setup.

Seat alabrahama the diesel choice is the most popular of my circle of friends for 7 seaters and all happy with them pananromac roof and leather seats.

Toyota Alphard is an absolute tank of a car but they are fierce expensive

Jesus .. I just did a quick look on those Alphards on DD .. Holy sh!t didn't realise how expensive they were. And the design aesthetic is … interesting. I'm assuming the 2.5 hybrid is same unit in loads of different Toyota / Lexus cars.

My dad loves driving the Zafira. Occasionally we've had to swap cars for various reasons and he's never too quick about wanting to hand it back.

Haha !! Not suggesting he buys the newer Godzilla looking alphard ! But a 15- 18 reg one last I checked there were few under the 20k mark few months ago.

They have a huge spec at those years too. And ya it’s a love hate kinda car looks wise.

As a potential 7 seater buyer I can't stand the way many advertiser have a tendency not to show the full seat configuration, in many cases they don't show the third row.

Loads of pictures of the exterior and the dash, but nothing of the third row or the boot.

It's probably because the third row leg room is tiny in some of these 7 seaters.

Yeah the leg room can be tight and end up with no boot. Bigger 7 seaters can cost insane money.

If a 7 seater isn't regularly needed then if possible, taking two cars is the best solution in my opinion.

I'm probably just going to get a petrol engine car and forget about a 7 seater.

I had an insignia before and loved it, what is the the 1.5 petrol engine like in them?

dashboard is better than any modern sticking out of dash huge screens. And it has buttons for everything. Ford SYNC system is good and does everything.
I would not let screen be a main factor when choosing a car.

Absolutely, I want a car to be as practical and ergonomic as I can find which is becoming increasingly difficult to find and the E.U forcing the introduction of useless tech to make cars safer instead of proper driver training and testing and detection of phone use etc, using infotainment in a car is just as dangerous, even the instrument clusters now are big TFT screens with endless menus and options that can be fiddled with while driving.

Just look at Bjorn on youtube, he spends maybe 30% of the time actually looking at the road, that's just one example of how crazy tech is in cars that allows screen addicted people to indulge in their addiction while driving.

What's even crazier is that NCAP gave Dacia poor safety ratings for not having annoying tech that bings and bongs at you and worse again is that they didn't even test the Jogger at all yet gave them dismal ratings , but yet they give other car manufacturers raving reviews for all the distracting tech and screens and endless options and menus to fiddle with while driving, NCAP reviews given by people addicted to screens and tech.

The 1.5 Petrol turbo is supposed to be reliable, they're tried and tested Renault engines who quite wisely decided not to go with Wet timing belts and the disaster that turned out to be for the sake of probably meaningless savings , if any at all on emissions.

I didnt say the screen was the main reason i would not choose the car. Not sure how you interpreted that from my post tbh. The center dash console design including the screen surround is awful looking in my personal opinion and i'd prefer something more to my liking if I was spending 40k on a car.

I'm sure the screen itself is fine and functional but the overall surrounding design looks very dated for me imo for a 2022 car.

But of course the OP might think its nice which is the point of the thread.

Each to their own etc …
