I know from the bargain alerts discussion on the 8a from three, the prepay phone is not sim or network locked so it can be purchased and used with whatever sim you want. Does anyone know if the same applies for the 9a bought on prepay? Will it be both sim and network free?

Yes, it's completely unlocked. I bought the 9a on prepay with 3 last week and ignored the SIM it came with, popped my own SIM in with no issues.
