Anyone do shredded chicken?

I used to live with Asians who made this, but I never thought to ask the method/recipe.

As far as I know you just broil chicken breast then shred it either painstakingly with a fork, or easily with a hand mixer.

Then fry it with onion and garlic, with perhaps a little soy sauce?

Though I hear some recipes do it with chilli and diced peppers?

    Anyone make this dish?

I have sides like steamed veg, salsa, humous, pinto beans etc. But I need to make a good protein portion to the dish that tastes nice so it makes the healthy aspects of the diet more tolerable.

Easier to butterfly a breast, jullene, soak in buttermilk & coat in flower before frying it off.

Then add to your stir fry.

To do as the video shows would imo be a nuisance and take too long. I think having bigger strips of shredded chicken would be nicer flavour overall! I don’t really like chicken shredded finely like that personally it’s just not as satisfying to bite.

the flour btw is for crispy fried chicken but if you don’t want to deep fry you can achieve a similar goal by wok cooking.

I recommend the buttermilk because it will make the chicken much more tender. It’ll essentially melt into your mouth.

Was thinking similar. Anything coated in breadcrumbs and fried gets a thumbs up from me. May not be the healthiest, but tasty and always seems to leave the meat nice and tender. Love a Katsu curry as well I make my own version with the Japanese Golden Curry sauce. Yummy.

I think a seasoned flour would be nicer than breadcrumb or battered tbh

Flour will cook and form a nice coating on the chicken can add your own blend of spices etc to enhance the other ingredients

That looks nice. I just got shredded chicken from the Chinese and it's like they make the pieces of chicken too big. It's hard to cut it aswell.

From the freezer done in batter or breadcrumbs?

    I found them inedible.

Part of the problem with using chicken breasts is they're quite dry, so using or mixing in some boneless chicken thighs means you get some of the darker meat with more flavour in there

It does have more grease as well so reduce any oil you're using, might not need any other that some oil spray stop it sticking

If you've an air fryer then that can produce some nice results. Maybe try making a marinade of a couple spoonfuls of soy sauce with some minced garlic and chilli (or the paste stuff from the supermarket). Let the chicken marinade for a while, overnight if possible then pop into the air fryer

It should break up pretty easily afterwards, then you can chuck the veggies onto the leftover oil and spices in the air fryer to soak up some of the delicious unhealthy residue 😁

Also, this recipe, "dried red peppers".

I'm sure I can get them in the halal store, but are they super hot/spicy?

I normally dice up ONE pepper, but that recipe says to add an entire bunch?

I would assume dried red peppers means chilli peppers and not capsicum peppers. You can buy ones that aren't so hot, but like, between chilli flakes and some fresh sliced jalapenos (or other mild chilli) you should get all the flavours
