Is there an adaptor/extender for a plug socket?

got an outdoor socket installed in an outdoor room (watertight)

Want to put in a timer switch but it won’t fit into the socket (I don’t need to close the lid of the outdoor socket)

just wondering if there’s such a thing as a small adaptor / extender that will be an inch or two depth that I can plug into the OS and then plug the timer plug into that? Just to bring out the socket enough that the timer switch will fit

Use a short extension lead, mount the socket end on the wall and plug the timer into that.

cheers, I was hoping it to be a bit neater than more cables

I could use a block double adaptor I suppose but I was just wondering if there was a “slimmer” type of socket extender

You can get various combined timer/socket units for outdoor use :

The issue with that is you won't be able to close the lid on the socket with the timer plugged in. They're not weather proof unless the lid is closed fully.

With lid open, it's just a normal socket.

That's why they can't really be used with Christmas lights that have transformer plugs etc and you have to get weather proof boxes to hold that stuff.

yea I’m ok with that, the socket is in a watertight room so no need for me to close the lid, it’s just they are installed now so don’t want to replace them hence me looking for an adaptor to take these which I also have around the house, an adaptor to move these outwards to fit (with the lid up fully on the socket)

If the 'outdoor room' is within the range of your house wi-fi, you should buy a smart plug, will save you fiddling with the pegs on that timer socket. You'll be able to control the socket from anywhere, using an app on your phone or tablet.

Be sure to buy one with the 'energy monitor' feature, this allows you to track how much power is being used, it only costs about one euro more than the basic model….

Just remove the four fixing screws, take off the front frame and refix no?

would leave the sides exposed and unsafe imo

As it's inside and not exposed to the elements perhaps a standard adapter would do the job

Google the following DFE 028020 it will give you an idea of what I'm talking about (tried to link it but it didn't work)
