Civil Service Higher Scale

I recently found out I'm getting higher scale due to seniority in near future, but my increment date is about a month after it.

Will I be transferred across from point 7 standard to point 7 higher scale?

If so, then do I still get the increment, to my knowledge it was a skip year, skipping point 8 to point 9...does that mean I'd be on point 9 higher scale by end of year?

Yes and Yes.

Just be aware that the higher scale takes 12 months to kick in, so you won't get the benefit of it immediately.

How are you eligible for the higher scale based on seniority if you are not even at the top of the scale? Is it based on overall length of service?

I have no idea, if you Google forsa and higher scale civil service there's a webpage that explains it, although I still needed to make this post to ask about specifics.

I always thought the only way you get higher scale is by applying and getting written reference from your line manager, now I'm pretty sure that dead wrong, don't know what put that idea in my head.
