Bus from Sligo, train from Dublin

I was trying to plan a trip from Dublin via Sligo using public transport and notice that the bus from Sligo to Donegal (and on to Derry) usually leaves Sligo about 5 mins before the train arrives from Dublin.

How's that for joined up thinking? I know there is a bus from Dublin but I assume this kind of thing is very frustrating for public transport users. Does anyone have any thoughts?

sounds about right to be honest, just use the bus donegal dublin, unless you need to go via sligo

Not sure why you would travel by train via Sligo when there are direct buses from Dublin to Donegal, unless there is some reason you want to go to Sligo?

Train > Bus. Bus Éireann and Iarnród Éireann should work together and not separately. That nonsense of mistimed buses at a joint train and bus station looks like a deliberately stupid policy when Translink in NI makes a point of integrating both where available.

Same mindset with Dublin ballina Train, if you want to connect with 458 bus.

Train reaches ballina station at 16.05. 458 bus for Enniskillen leaves bus station at 16:00.

But that has always been the way

It beggars belief really, why any bus at all would depart so close to a significant arrival. It's not like there's a train arriving every five minutes at any of these regional stations.

Unless of course Bus Eireann are trying to discourage potential customers from using the train.

It could only happen in Ireland.

Would you consider writing to them or email them asking for an explanation and if they had any plans to adjust the timetables?
