My child, aged 7, was recently diagnosed with a DLD and I am heartbroken to be honest. Is there any other parent out there with a child with a DLD? How has your child managed school with a DLD? Did you get a lot of SLT? To be honest, I’m finding the diagnosis difficult to process, and the more reading I do into the disorder, the more worried I get.

I’m sorry that you are feeling this . I’ve worked with many children with a DLD .Firstly, well done on being proactive on having your child assessed for DLD. Unfortunately, schools are badly resourced to offer additional support , particularly from an SLT viewpoint, but I’ve seen children with DLD flourish with a close relationship between school and home .
