Transfer a Landline No. to a new owner

Hi all, tricky situation, have fibre broadband here in small family business calls coming in via VOIP last number of years,

Business is transferring to a new company due to retirement and I'm giving them domains and i want them to have the landline no.

so customers can continue to call the old number, my provider seems to think its not possible, (digiweb) seems to think the number can only port over if they sign up to new broadband, and then it would port to new provider etc. They dont need that as they currently have their own active fibre and own business with landlines etc.

Happy enough that when my number ports I'll lose my broadband account being active any longer which if fine, its ensuring the number doesnt get lost in any cracks along the way and the new owner can have it, any advice ??

Your broadband and landline number will have separate UANs so they're not strictly linked, but most retail providers only ever encounter transfers of either standalone broadband or bundled broadband/landline so are going to tell you anything outside of that is impossible.

Your best bet is probably to port the landline bit off to a VoIP provider (Goldfish, IPtelecom, etc.) and then do a transfer of ownership of that landline and account to the new company. They can then put the number onto any provider of their choosing.

When you port the number off your broadband it ceases the landline service aspect, the broadband will stay working. You might be able to get Digiweb to put a new landline number in its place which could become your landline going forward.
