I found out recently my daughter ,whom I have not seen in approx 12 years is using my address to claim social welfare.
I recently got a letter from the council (I live in a council property) that they are aware that my daughter is claiming benefits from my address!
They need to no if this is true and if not to provide details of here address and rent statements, household bills pertaining to her.
Surely I am not obliged to provide details of a technically 3 party that fraudulently used my address? I immediately informed social welfare.

Seem very strange a Daughter you've not seen in 12 years is suddenly using your address to claim Social welfare. She would have had to provide proof of address when claiming a SW payment & they would have written to her at your address.

It won't only be the Councul wanting to know why she is using your address.

You will have to advise the council she is not living at your address & possibly you'll also need to contact DSP about this bizzare set of circumstances.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

The council are looking for proof that your daughter lives elsewhere - if they don't get it, they may reassess your rent (as they'll assume she's there and take her SW into account).

It's in your interest to give them what you can.
