You'd need to be more specific. Are you talking about a floor pump or a roadside/emergency pump? Budget? Weight/size conscious? Frame fit or pocket?

I went through a phase a few years ago that lasted a couple of years where I kept getting punctures. All the time, frequently, replaced tubes, tyres, nothing worked. I was using a small hand pump and manually checking if it needed pumping by pressing with my thumb. It only stopped when I got a proper floor pump with a gauge, verified the required pressure (100psi in my case), and then religiously pumped my tyres to that pressure on at least a weekly basis. Previously I only pumped when it looked or felt like it needed air.

I got a floor pump in Decathlon recently, which will fit all 3 types of valve (that I know of anyway) - Presta, Schrader and Dunlop (which of course mine turned out to be, being the rarest type 🙄)

It was €11 and does the job perfectly.

I did have one from Lidl or Aldi from years ago with a pressure gauge on it, but the seal inside obviously degraded and it ceased working.

I don't even know what you mean by frame or pocket? All I know is foot pumps and hand pumps. I'd be interested in roadside) emergency pumps. I was thinking of getting a foot pump with a PSI gauge Ar they worth the money?

get a track pump for home use - you see them occasionally for a tenner or so in lidl or aldi, or decathlon stock them too.

and a hand pump for roadside use. i'd spend a bit more than a fiver, though; you don't want to be arguing with a cheap pump at the side of the road:

Some pumps are too long to fit in a jersey pocket but can be attached to the frame of the bike. Most of us carry smaller pumps which fit in our jersey pockets.

Hijacking this one, does anyone have any recommendations for a roadside emergency pump that doesn't suck? I had one years ago that was okay but every one I've had since has brought me to tears trying to get barely 20 psi in.

Edit: ah see there's a couple of electric pump recommendations above

i have a Lezyne pressure Drive , 2 sizes I think mine is the bigger, flexible hose rather than direct attachment, doesn't fit in any size toolbag so you need to mount it or use your jersey pocket..

Thanks! I always have a pannier bag or rucksack with me so bigger than tool bag size isn't as issue.

The Leyzene pump for me too. No bother getting tyre inflated on roadside. I have aluminium one. There's an ABS too which is a bit cheaper and a tiny bit lighter. But I prefer the aluminium.

Just make sure and do what I didn't - put a tiny bit of grease on the threads where the hose screws into the top. I got stuck on the roadside a few weeks ago having not had a puncture in donkeys and it wouldn't shift due to what I assume was galvanic corrosion. It took the vise grips to budge it when I got home.
