Public Service Probation

Looking for an opinion. My partner has a 9 month probation review soon and is stressing over it. She was given pointers at 3 months and at 6 months was told there was an improvement, but is still a worried. Realistically, how hard is it to fail probation? Is it really one of those things that unless you kill someone or are missing the very basics (punctuality and the like) you should be ok?

See its different everywhere but typically it is very hard not to pass, this is from the couple of depts ive worked in. It's also very hard to not pass at the very end , was the pointers just general advise? But no warnings or anything? It's typically too late to not pass someone's probation if the manager hasn't got their ducks in a row from quite early on in the process.

Thanks for the reply! 99% sure the word warning wasn’t used and it was more so “work on these before the next review”. I also should have clarified it’s 12 months with a final review after 11.

In the civil service the final review is always a HR tick off not a manager review so they look for sick days and previous warnings so the de facto final review is at 9months, could be the same for your partner where there last manager review is month 8/9. I think they have to be very clear with the terminology around warnings etc
