I can't find an answer so I thought I'd as here.

We had planning granted back in 2021 to remove our attic and put a 2nd floor on our bungalow.

That plan has now changed and we are looking to extend out into the rear of the property as the new extension is 40sqm and the house was already extended by 50sq previously we need planning.

My question is with my original planning not due to expire until March 2026 can I apply for the new planning for the works to the rear?

Do I cancel the planning for the 2nd floor work somehow?

Yes you can apply to extend the house to the rear in lieu of previous approved permission to extend upwards.
