New cookie consent popup with "Legitimate Interest" a separate click away - what's up with that?!

So opening boards.ie just now, I got a cookie consent popup. Odd, I've been here years. Everything seemed to be switched to "off" - good! - but then I noticed there was a link up in the top right of the popup for "Legitimate interest" - the spurious justification used by companies to issue and track cookies anyway, because they have a "legitimate" interest in selling to me.

Clicked in to that, and apparently >200 tracking cookies for various companies would have been able to leave cookies on my PC, had I not noticed, and clicked 'Deny all'.

Hiding the "legitimate interest" opt-out like that and having them default to "on" is shabby practice. Please revise your policy!

boards.ie default cookie settings now include "legitimate interest" for >200 companies, unless you specifically opted out!
