No, online pile-ons can become too much. It's not just "some negative comments" or an issue with not 100% praise/applause. No need to just default to downplaying. Relentless abuse from fu(king nutjobs can be overwhelming.

    Here's what he said.

    20250322_003400.jpg

I'm not sure about the veracity of all of it. Some requires further qualification. But I certainly know he isn't a far right, fascist so and so. If people wanted him to give a specific opinion that only they like, they should have made that clear first. 🙄

    Horrible bullies.

And what is the issue? His actual opinion on immigration in Ireland? or the fact he has never mentioned this topic before but decides to talk about after McG is on about it and saying he agrees with him?

Anyhow he is getting messages and praise from the Tate brothers so he might get to go on their podcasts and make money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,795 ✭✭✭JJayoo

He's 30 years old lol Christ you would swear he's a 15 year old kid, put the phone down and the scary comments can't get you 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭dubrov

Bit of a gamble from him to be honest.

He'll lose a few fans who disagree with his political views and gain some who do.

Given his profile was pretty low beforehand, I'd guess he will gain but it won't last long.

Should've stuck to the day job

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 647 ✭✭✭Frost Spice

People who have been on the receiving end of an online pile-on will understand.

Guilt by association is lazy. Just because Tate defends him, doesn't mean Garron wants that, or that he agrees with anything else the Tates say. Normalising keeping your mouth shut because your view might be agreed with by an arsehole like Musk or Tate is absurd. I'm sure Tate and Musk like some films I like - I'll strike them off my viewing list if I find out.

    I'm mint.

Why should he have stuck to the day job? Nobody who's doing a creative side gig should ever be discouraged like that, unless it's a total failure. And his wasn't a failure. He was doing well in social media terms.

He has a huge following and was only getting bigger

I think he should throw his hat in the president race, have a younger chap for a change 😉

@Panthro Shorts or Live video feeds don't embed normal clips do!

@Necro Thanks for high lightening the existence of this thread! I was dreading having to re read transferred posts, but looks like you didn't do that option!

Hope your joking about that you would miss out on a good show!

He plans on calling a Mars base that name, if he can do so!

The issue is that he is now being categorized as a racist because he mentioned there is an immigration problem in Ireland, and the whole debacle has now also highlighted the fact that speaking freely is no longer a privilege that exists in this country.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,795 ✭✭✭JJayoo

How exactly is speaking freely no longer a privilege? Instagram or tiktok didn't ban him, no one came to his house to arrest him, other people used their free speech to talk **** about him and then he decided to sign off because he is so used to only positive attention.

Also the reason people are having a go at him is solely in regards to McGregor, he never once mentioned anything about this topic, and he has unlimited time to do so on his platform, but he waited until the rapiist thug, coked out of his head, started ranting in the white house and then Garron decided well I have to back up these wise words, now is the time.

Such nonsense, he could be making videos like normal if he wanted on any topic under the sun, so exactly how has his free speech been taken away?

Someone should start some sort of "I am delicious" social media trend to get Garron back (but no ice buckets, tyvm!)

@Frost Spice I know you can blow up the above on a desktop, but do you expect people to have great eyesight to read that. Wondering now what it looks like on mobile!

I think the below article was shared in the immigration thread earlier? Has the text of your shot!

He posted the video, then he closed his own social media accounts almost immediately. Yet he is getting a lot of support across the board

I have seen many many comments complaining about a "pile on". I have seen dozens (maybe hundreds) of comments supporting this guy. I haven't seen any evidence of a pile on or barely anyone actually criticising him. Any comments criticising him have been fairly tame and mostly reasonable.

Something doesn't add up here, I really don't get it.

Never heard.of him but was just reading the sindo piece about his 'experience' giving his opinion on sm.

Probably a case of any publicity is better than none.

A sad world filled with idiots who just can't see that everyone is entitled to their opinion and well.. that's mine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,379 ✭✭✭corkie

@StupidLikeAFox I don't know the full timeline of events.

His main video that caused all the haulable is widely shared! Have not seen his second video that he then shared after getting allot of backlash been shared at all.

So he didn't put up the first and quickly deactivate his accounts. Some time had past!

@Brian? Here is an example of a post about him.

    image.png

I say that is a tame version of sort of crap he was attacked with it? More was probably censored or pulled down by the platforms.

if Garron is getting cancelled by Tiktokers and or TikTok itself over the above statement he made…it’s beyond ridiculous. We are supposed to be living in enlightened times… always seemed like a nice, friendly, engaging kind of lad. I found him friendly, silly , annoying, talented, nice, funny, basically the whole spectrum of experiences watching and following him.

There is seemingly absolutely zero harm in the guy yet… again… for having an unpopular opinion within certain circles all be it one he still communicated responsibly and respectfully with his audience on that platform… he gets cancelled.

Growing up, anyone who had opinions, beliefs that were different to mine or my parents…. Just believed differently… that wasn’t a problem unless they were pro violence or terrorism. Otherwise, yep we disagree, we’ll get over it.

Now it’s all about cancelling… a great old saying my mother has that dates back to the dawn of time…” the empty vessel makes the most noise “ never truer words now but the problem is with so many empty vessels nowadays on these cancellation buzzes… if they can’t win the argument, they shout the argument down and shut it and the person / people down. 🤌🏻 Another example.

Nobody "cancelled" him, he took down his own social media accounts. He is getting mostly praise across almost all social media sites.

If you claim that people are free to disagree with others opinions, why would you be shocked when someone disagrees with someone's opinions. Your whole post is a massive contradiction

Are our towns and cities really becoming "much less safe"? I don't see it. And why mention it in a post about immigration? different topic as he says he isn't saying its much less safe because of immigrants.

Not sure why he bothered saying anything, look what happened when Kellie Harrington did similar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,768 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

I said ‘if’….without more information about him departing we cannot be sure. However if he was getting abused for straightforward opinions it’s akin to people attempting to cancel him. My whole post is supposedly a contradiction according to you, yet you can’t accurately differentiate between what I actually said and what you think I said. Nice one, disingenuous… but hey 👏🏼

Media / social media are interpreting it as him being cancelled so. 🤦🏻‍♂️ focuses your ‘ire’ on them maybe….📞

    Thanks. I appreciate that.

    He was right.

And, in one video, he was more representative of the ordinary Irish public than our political/media elite have been in a decade of neo-liberal propaganda and journalistic slop.

No surprise to see the acronymists pursue him vengefully for telling an untellable truth.

If you're going to make your living on social media or any media really, you need to be able to either take criticism or ignore it.

Garron has well over a million followers on Instagram alone, I doubt very much he got abused from even 1% of those people.

    He will be back shortly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,196 ✭✭✭✭Deja Boo

If you haven't seen his New Years eve message, it was touching (and helpful) to learn what he was able to overcome.

I hope good fortune finds you, (again this year) Garron… Thank you for sharing your personal journey. Keep moving forward if only for yourself, despite the haters!

Have to say, Garron Noone backing up Conor McGregor and in turn Tristan Tate coming out in support of Noone… that’s not a scenario I saw coming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,207 ✭✭✭✭kippy

    This is it 100 percent.

The 'left' and 'right' terms are extremely polarising. The reality is you can hold opinions that would sling with either side and not to the extreme of either side at any one time.

There seems to be many things one cannot talk about those days without someone attempting to shut you down if they don't agree with you. It's not healthy no matter what your standpoint.

Stating an opinion on immigration is not 'far right' in any shape or form. Many people have concerns about how immigration is handled in this country, doesn't make them ' far right' now should it put them into the pigeon hole of being far right.

On this specific case, he is obviously permitted to do whatever he wishes to do with his social media. Sometimes it's no harm to do a full SM detox, he will be back.

I thought we got rid of the alter rail lickers and sycophants but looks like they just changed uniforms. By hounding genuine people off social media it just leaves more space for vile individuals such as Andrew Tate.
