Hi, I am in the process of buying my first home. It is in a very rural area just like I wanted but all the houses around have the same address..just different Eir codes. I was thinking about adding a name to my house to differentiate it in form the houses around in the addresses.. Can I do this and if so, how do I do it?

It's fairly normal for rural houses to have some sort descriptive name in lieu of a house number. I lived in a house in rural Clare back in the day simply called "yellow house" followed the name of the road, townland, etc..

In the era of eircodes, it's all largely redundant, but pick something descriptive about your home and add it to the address.

You just buy a sign and put it up. There's no real validation of addresses. It's never going to show up on the eircode system.

Edit, made a mistake. You can get onto an post to edit your details.
