Only get paid the feed in tariff after the date ESB log as having received your NC6. Could be a few weeks and totally dependent on installer submitting it promptly.

Just got my first march April bill since install, they owe me 112euro. Long live fit.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but are Pinergy the only company that give cash for microgeneration?

Yes, with a caveat, they refund you when you have excess credit, and only when you request it.

You have to use level pay and usually the starting payment per month is high.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,888 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

I ended up around €500 in credit with Energia because the level pay was too high due to FIT payments

I suppose that's not so much as them paying out the FIT and more the FIT paying my bills for me

I did get the credit refunded when I was switching, and I imagine of you ask for it there shouldn't be a problem. It took a while for me because they had to escalate to finance since the credit amount was quite large

This time around I've had to argue Energia down to a level pay of €80 per month. Their magic calculator pulled €357 per month out of somewhere which is a tad over what I estimated

I could always skip the level pay but then I'd have to remember to make the payments myself which is unreliable at best

What about Normal direct debit instead of level pay?

Have gotten refunds from flogas and energia. But both was when leaving.

I’m with Energia since January 2024. I’m on direct debit and haven’t made a payment since my first bill in February 2024. My account has been in credit all the way through so the bill amount is always €0.

Got my first credit bill of the year. Im owed 29 euro. This is in part thanks to the extra 3.6kWp of solar I added to my existing 5.2kWp in April. Great when you consider we are trending toward 18,000kWh in the 12 month period.

Can the Pinergy app be accessed by PC/online?

Also, maybe I'm being thick, but does the app show what you've exported to the grid?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,295 ✭✭✭irishchris

No it seems to be app only. They don't show export whatsoever in the app. Can be accessed in your esb account though for each day/week/month

    Thanks for that.

I've nothing showing up as exported yet. Maybe it's because the NC6 only went in earlier this week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,754 ✭✭✭oleras

My install was last Tuesday, got an email from ESBN Friday at 16.30 to say they had received the application along with certs from Installer…was expecting the then 4-6 week wait…but logged into ESBN this morning and im all set up to export with an MEC. Fridays export data also showing up in the stats.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 227 ✭✭serox_21

I've filled the NC6 application online on esbnetworks myaccount on 26th of May. I got back a reply on 6th of June and a MEC of 5KVA is now showing on my account.
They moved reasonably with my application, almost 2 weeks. When you get the email from ESB you are already set.

Install Jun 16th (by swyft), still no email confirm from ESB Networks… swyft, when I spoke with them last wednesday, were going off to chase… apparently they(!) arrange for the submission fo the NC6 form(!?!?!)

Ring or email ESBN yourself for confirmation of receiving it.

Spoke with ESB Networks… and the backlog they're working on is from… 7th July!… back to Swyft with me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 205 ✭✭davork

And Swyft pushed it back to ESB Networks (complaints dept.) as Swyft has submitted the form etc etc And resubmitted it… today…

(Anyone reckon I'll get a 5 mwh battery for free from Swyft by the time this is resolved ? (I can hope lol))

Made my first withdrawal from Pinergy the other day. €400 taken out while leaving a few hundred euro in there as a buffer. Might leave it build up as a sort of saving scheme for Christmas.

RE: Pinergy, was it just an email or live chat for the refund ?

Signed up to them start of june, late may was solar install, used the 15th (payday) for the DD, knew nothing about "level pay"…i do now…lol

june 15 they take 300, then july 1 i get my bill, charges around the 50 mark but microgen export was 250, so +200, then july 15 they take another 300…we are now 800 in credit…I am sure Friday there will be another bill with similar numbers , 50 charges and 250 export…now i am 1000 in credit, albeit 600 is mine to begin with, i know its money in the bank and I will get it back but when do they reduce your level pay amount ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,037 ✭✭✭Soarer

It should automatically recalculate your level pay amount after 3 months. It does it quarterly.
As for getting the money back, I just rang them. The girl took my iban and set it up. So going forward, it’s just ring and ask.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,573 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

Just make sure to leave around 200 in the account, else your level pay jumps back up.

Level pay is all over the shop really. Can make heads nor tails of it. Doesn't matter though, you will get the balance back eventually. I am with them almost 2 years now and I have got a lot of money from them 😁

I just ring them up once every so many months and request a refund. The strangely always ask how much would I want and there is only one answer to that. They require €200 credit left in the account, so the answer is give me a refund please of whatever is the credit leaving €200 in the account…

    Hello,

I hopeful of finally getting a smart 3 phase meter for my large domestic solar setup (I have about 40kw of panels, 60kwh of batteries, and can import export at about 28-30kw). I'm likley to export a large amount more than I import over the course of the year so likely to be looking for payment of about €8 to 10k per annum.

My electricity contract is shortly going to expire also so I'm keen to pick a new one that will work well for export once I finally have the ability to export properly.

My question is which of the Smart plans which have a 3-4 hour window of cheap rates have no upper limit of how much you can use then?

So in theory I want to charge up my batteries at night and run the house from that 5-8c cheap electricity) while getting paid for everything I produce. But to do this I'd need a plan that has no upper limit of how much cheap electricity you can use.

Any suggestions here would be much appreciated. I think Pinergy are 5c cheap rate but 30+ all other times. Energia is 6.74c I think but has a longer 4 hour window.

Our house is an energy hog so can use up to 150kwh a day during winter. So it might make sense to use a tariff that also has a cheaper night rate + a mega cheap period as I don't think I'll be able to fit all our usage into 3-4 hours, ie charging battery and running heating etc, I can only use about 112kw hours max at night so if the other 40kw is at 30c it gets expensive.

Anyway any suggestions on which providers don't limit your cheap rate amounts of electricity used would be great.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,128 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

Energia, it's per billing period up to 1000kWh it's 6ish cent

Anything above is at a slightly higher rate, only 4 hrs.

How fast can you charge the batteries from the grid?

Possibly staying on a day night rate might be useful, I remember you starting the house and assuming it's well insulated, you could pre heat the house on night rate, and minimise day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,544 ✭✭✭blobert

Thanks for that, looks like that would not work so, I'd be using circa 6700 units per 2 months if I was maxing out the 4 hour window to charge batteries/cars etc.

I think I can charge the batteries at 20kwh, so I can do 80kw (in theory) over the 4 hours window.

My 60kwh batteries are a bit annoying in that they stop at 20% charge to preserve the battery so you're only getting 100-20%, ie 48kwh usable.

Anyone know if the other providers with cheap EV rates have limits also?

Also if I have a smart meter (to get paid for export) do I have to do a smart meter tariff or can I still do a day night one?

As you say I might be better with a day/night one and just charge my battery at night/run my heating etc and then use battery by day.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,128 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

No when it's changed you don't have to go on a smart plan. It's a drop in replacement for your current plan, no change needed on your end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,544 ✭✭✭blobert

    Thanks for that.

With the Pinergy Lifestyle "Night Time" ie 5c rate does anyone know if there is an upper limit on usage?

I'd have to do exact maths but I think if I can get 84kwh of 5c electricity in the 3 hours (maxing out my 28kw connection for those 3 hours) each night that even at the 33c rest of time rate I'd still be doing better than the cheapest night rate I can get (about 13-14c).

Pinergy also seem to pay the most for export at the moment at 25c so that might be a factor also

There is no limit…there are people on here practically earing a wage with the amount of electricity they are importing and exporting with Pinery 😎..knock your socks off if you have a big enough battery
