Up 16% in last 5 days. Rollercoaster stock.

I would hate to have the stock or the car.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,487 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Apparently the stock was down fairly dramatically before the election and got a boost from the Trump association initially. The recent boost is because Musk has returned to the office to do some work. All looks a bit sketchy in fairness with serious competition and himself making it worse.

A lot of crypto tech bro types seem to have put a lot of their eggs in the Tesla basket.

    🙈🙉🙊

The whole market is down today, including the S&P500. Your desperation in seeing tesla drop is really apparent in your posts. Pitiful. It’s a very spiteful trait to have and it doesn’t come across well for you unfortunately.

Our beloved Netflix stock is also down near 3% today, you’ll be delighted to hear.

hang on; the post which kicked this off was a comment that the people who designed the cybertruck don't deserve to be - quote 'dragged down' with musk.

the post did not state what being 'dragged down' means, but you have decided this means 'nazi behaviour'. and posted a picture of a nazi rally, associating burning of tesla dealerships with them.

are you sure that's what the poster meant by 'dragged down'? or are you on a solo run on this?

"Tesla stock down another 5% today...", honestly accusing posters of being spiteful or inciting Nazi-like behavior based on pretty innocuous posts is silliness… You seem to be taking it very personally that posters have a problem with a corporation and the behavior of their CEO. You'd get a lot more normal engagement if you didn't approach discussions like this.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,157 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

scum behaviour will be called out if and when I want. That’s what was called out.

Wishing hard working people to be dragged down because of where they work is a scummy comment. I take it you agree with him as you are quick to defend it and attack me for calling it as it is. That’s fair enough. Free speech and all that.

Couldn’t give a hoot about the corporation or the ceo. But when holier than thou are giving others lectures while actively using X or starlink or defrauding netflix, it kinda waters down their hypocritical stance.

it’s doubled in a year. Hardly a bad stock to have!

Like apple I would buy the stock before the product.

    Pot kettle black there.
Going mad because you were caught out with your double standards. Get a grip.

Honestly, you're just displaying bullying behaviour now.

I have been a member of boards longer than you, this is a re-reg. It has always been frowned upon (I'm sure it was banned at one stage) to go through a posters history and cross forum post.

I don't know when that changed, but as someone who has been here for nearly twenty years, you should be aware of that.

Honestly, you're just being pathetic. For someone older than their mid 30's, you should grow up.

If I'm warned/banned for personal abuse, fair enough, it'll show what a joke shop that this site has become when a mod (I Have no idea what forum you mod, thanks vanilla) treats users like you have.

I know, I know, a mod of one forum is just a user elsewhere. Back in the day of Regi, Cloud, DeVore, mods were users, but also were held to some degree of higher standard. Bullying behaviour, the like I'm seeing here, would not have been tolerated.

my mistake, I had no idea what the acronym meant. I always had know it as 'paddy can't pay'

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,157 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

The difference is, I don’t care. I won’t be reporting your posts as it’s AH. I don’t care if you have differing opinions than me.

But when you were putting other people down because the car they bought and trying to hold yourself to a higher standard than those then you deserve to be called out on it when you’re doing the same thing yourself.

I like this image and it seems to fit in well nowadays.

Very true. I have friends who use PCP 'correctly'. Nothing against Tesla's , or any other cars, but PCP seems to be a way for people to basically rent cars that are out of their price range. It is a clever way for the new car industry to keep selling new cars in this country.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,196 ✭✭✭purifol0

I know quite a few public sector workers who buy cars on PCP and get the trade in for the new model.

When your pay keeps going up, why not?

Even those who've hit top of pay scales still receive raises (big one this year) so it's not like they are living beyond their means.

It's low risk for both buyer and seller. Same reason they get approved mortgages and loans private sector workers do not. The taxpayer is basically made cover the loan

Its risen over 90% in a year - not doubled. Was definitely money to be made.

Wishing hard working people to be dragged down because of where they work is a scummy comment.

    You know what? Feck them.

    • They work for a Nazi. (Note: a Nazi isn't someone who posted something online that triggered you)
    • Their products have many defects.
    • They released a driver assistance feature and then marketed it as autonomous driving, which it is not. They even called it "Autopilot". This has killed people as a direct result, but they don't care, they sold more cars.
    • Accident rates in Teslas are considerably higher than their competitors. This has also killed people.
    • They have removed basic features like indicator stalks to save money. (NCAP have noted that this has a direct negative impact on safety and will be downgrading safety ratings in future.)

So I (and it seems everyone else here) am left wondering why you are screaming and roaring and posting pictures with swastikas supposedly in the defence of people you don't know who are doing a pretty poor job all things considered.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I would say for the general staff that all the cutting corners is coming from Musk. I'd hope they have the good sense to jump ship to competitors. Unlike SpaceX employees, they should be very hireable elsewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,617 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

"Musk is a Grade A Knob, but he is not Tesla."

Then why the f*** is he in the White House, pedalling his wares, literally with his Swasticars and WankPanzers on the WH lawn, all while 45 and his proxies are on tv telling people to invest in Tesla.

You cannot separate the abomination of a man from the product. They are intrinsically linked.

    To say otherwise is nonsense.

Its like saying trump is not his hotels and property business…. musks name might not be on them in the same way but his face and person is indelibly linked to them. But sure lets ignore that, musk is also the ceo of Tesla and Spacex of which Starlink is under, he is also the largest shareholder of both companies, therefore he directly profits off their successes in both salary and share value which buying or using products they sell or manage adds to.

I bought a Tesla last year. Ordered in May and picked up in August. I had 3 criteria for my first EV. I wanted to buy new. A saloon with decent rear space, or at least something that felt like one to drive as I have zero interest in the suv/crossover segment and a budget of about €40k. To this end I test drove the BYD Seal, the Kia EV6 and the Tesla Model 3. The EV6 I drove just felt a bit too big and leary for what I wanted. I really liked the Seal but it didn't feel as nimble as the Tesla and I personally like the interior and had no issue with the lack of stalks etc. Built in rear screen for kids was a bonus. The Seal was going to cost about 7/8k more than the Tesla. So it was my preferred option after the test drives and hours of youtube research. I ordered online mid May.

I did have second thoughts before I picked it up as Musk had just endorsed Trump and was giving him a pile of money. I decided to press on for a number of reasons. Firstly I figured there was absolutely no way that the Donald was going to be re-elected so I would be able to joke about Elon wasting his money on the fool. I went on another test drive with the family and they were all sold on it, so I went ahead.

I never really payed much attention to Musk, thinking he was just an oddball, never queried his motives etc cos why would I give a sh1t what he does or says. (I've never actively used twitter) Once Trump got in and Elon started with the salute and the DOGE and the cuts I've felt a bit uncomfortable driving the car tbh. I think that Trumps entire setup that Musk is now so intricately woven into is so devoid of any type of understanding, nuance, empathy or human element that it disgusts me.

What can I do at this point? Sell the car? What's the point, I love the car. It will still be on the road just with someone else driving it. Put a stupid sticker on it so people won't judge me? I learned a long time ago not to give a fook what other people think about me. I bought my first ever EV and first ever brand new car last year which was a big deal for me. I'm certainly not going to let the developments of the last 6 months in a galaxy far far away have me at a financial loss.

TLDR: I bought one a year ago, but I wouldn't buy one now.

It's effectively a cybercurrency or NFT at this point, intrinsic value is a tiny fraction of what it trades for so one is always reliant on the existence of the greater fool.

The extreme leftie lunatics would have bought an EV 2 years ago if it was made by fuckin ISIS. But suddenly someone appears in the states who wants to save the taxpayer money and all the purple hared lunatics who identify as zie/zirs/microwaves are out drawing swasticas on teslas dealerships...

    Swasticas.

    Yep.

And they're the ones with the moral high ground.

the interiors of 2025 Teslas, just so despicably devoid of style and imagination for one, but they look awfully plasticky. Model 3 ….. I wouldn’t even waste the petrol money going to see one at the dealership…

    image.jpeg

basic basic model is €43,000. 🤪. A name and ideal being more impressive than the product.
