Bulldozer and Hi Mac rates

would appreciate any info re what are the current typical hourly rates for a bulldozer and Hi Mac machines . Work would involve drain cleaning and levelling a small disused sand pit

Bulldozers are very specialist and vary greatly in size.

Hymac I assume you mean 360 machine is about 50/60 and HR plus vat for 13 tonne

Theres a D9 bulldozer working beside me €1,500 a day plus vat and diesel. Serious machine to move clay

13 tonne track machine is €65 plus vat an hour. Some lads could be cheaper but the quality of work could be chalk and cheese

Wouldn't be a fan of doing hourly rates, last bit of work I got done I got him to price for the job complete, and it was a lot cheaper than going the hourly rate.

How many acres of top soil woud he skin in a day, say 6" deep, has he trimble gps for that

No GPS just a good eye. It's not stripping top soil here as it would be too big and heavy. It's shoving in subsoil into a hole and stripping ground down to rock. Going back to the OP the 20 or 25 tonne dozer would be big enough for the job.

From 30 years of being both sides of this type of work..dont try and price the whole job,with land work there's too many variables and contractor has to price the worse case scenario.the operator is everything,price per hour less important.20 ton machinesa are the go to machines for land work.13 to 15 don't get the production.be careful on getting a bulldozer, they are very poor at minding top soil and there is industry limit to their efficiency versus digger and dump trucks I can't remember what it is but it's not far could be 2 to 3 hundred metres.around here land reclamation jobs usually are around 10 k an acre nowadays give or take but that depends on the what the job entails as most of the easy pickings are done already

They moved it in on a Friday night on a truck and low loader. It was above in Mayo before that for 3 months on a bypass. The final drive went on it and it cost 30k to fix it.

There's some sound off it when it's pushing. The driver was saying to me that he has to rip the clay before pushing it. His down around 10ft and has another 15ft to go before hitting rock.

There's a quarry on the farm so they are stripping off clay to blast the rock

A little update for ye. I had to get a tank of water and pump water down the shaft where the drill was working. The drill head got stuck 15 meters down in the rock and the water helped loosen it.
