hello lads I need a new labtop i was hoping not to spend too much on it ,it won't be doing very much Facebook and YouTube when the children have it so it would get a fair bit of abuse might be doing a little bit of work on it myself like government sites like agfood etc etc

any recommendations would be very welcome

If your looking for something for the kids to use I'd recommend and Amazon tablet. There not expensive.

Have amazon tablets improved, they were the absolute worst tablets, i used to assume they were called fire as you will want to fire them out the window, the honor i suggested is fantastic

If you are just browsing random websites, buy any 350/450€ laptop or Chromebook.

And get a fire tablet for the kids as others have suggested.

I got a Dell Inspiron 14 with an i3 and 8gb RAM for €317 off the Dell outlet last month. I actually got €25 refunded too, as it arrived a day late after they told me to be home to sign for the package.

Some tips if shopping there:

They do discount coupons on the site the odd time, usually 10-15% off. I had an EPP code but there are regular offers for around the same amount. The coupons do not stack.

The UK one has different deals to the Irish one, and usually more choice. If you open a chat with them (9-5 weekdays) they will move a system to Ireland for you and you can get the same deal. They'll cost it in euro for you and send you an invoice when it's been moved for you, which was very quick in my case.

The outlet stock refreshes everyday or so, so keep checking back when you can if you're in no hurry. I bided my time and got a good deal.

The Inspiron 15.6" series is likely your best bet based on your requirements. 3520 and 3525 have no USB C port; 3530 and 3535 have one but it can't be used to charge.

Check the generation of the processor if getting an Intel CPU (11th, 12th, 13th gen all show up there; 13th is newest, so better than 12th etc). Use https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleCompare.php to compare CPU performance.

Be aware of systems with soldered RAM if you are planning on upgrading in future. If the system lists the number of DIMMs, chances are it can be upgraded. If it just says "8GB MEMORY" then it's possibly soldered and therefore not upgradeable

A chromebook should be a lot cheaper than that.

I sold a good as new one couple of years ago for £90.

I see a brand new one locally on Gumtre for 120 too, and it's been for sale for a while, I'd say 100 or less would buy it.

Chromebook, any one of them would be fine.
