non-motoring conviction impact - experience please?

HI,

I have a full NCB but picked up a recent conviction for a non motoring related assault (wrongly convicted but no hope of appeal).

Section 2 assault, assault not causing harm. Can anyone advise what the impact on insurance premium is likely to be? Is it a big deal?

Well I tried to get quotes as a new customer and all the majors refused to let the broker quote.

If you had this can you please tell me who you were with and what you told them please?

How do they know about the assault?

You're asked for motoring history and convictions related to driving you don't have to give your entire legal history do you? I never have anyway

You are asked about criminal convictions in general, not just motoring ones. It's not a good idea to fail to disclose

There are companies or brokers that specialise in drivers with convictions, driving/non-driving.

Insurers can ask about convictions relating to the class of cover you are seeking. For example, if you have convictions for arson, theft or fraud, insurers have a right to know about them. If they ask about all convictions, they may, or may not ,consider each one was relevent

I gave an answer to this in the other forum you asked this in. My understanding was it just related to motoring offences but that may not actually be the case.

I've just filled in a form for a new insurance quote and I was asked about ALL convictions, not just motoring.

A section 2 assault may not affect you though.
