Hi there, I'm a full time student (taking a career break from being a full time employee for some 30 years of working). I am going to be doing a small amount of work over a couple of days, for which I need to sign a contract as a consultant. It's not a big sum of money, but I will be liable for declaring it, any associated income tax etc.
For this kind of arrangement, do I need to register as a sole trader, or can I simply declare the income to the revenue at some point? I need to submit an invoice, in order to be paid for this work. Any suggestions or pointers would be really helpful. Thanks!
