Tikka t3X v Sako A7

Have both guns in my shopping list, both are synthetic stocks, stainless and used condition.

Both are very clean and the tikka is not very old (owner has passed and wife dropped it in)

the sako i was told was owned by an ex dealer who closed and sold off a lot of his own guns.

Is there any pros or cons to either. The sako bolt release button is a real nice feature allowing you to cycle the bolt safety and remove a round if crossing a hedge or gate.

Otherwise the tikka looks be more common and newer rifle

Little enough in the differences, if you were considering upgrading the stock at any point to a chassis you will have more options with the Tikka by a long ways, but beyond that I'd say go with which feels better to you.

Will you have a chance to shoot both or will you have to make a decision blind?

I have a Tikka T3X Varmint in .223. Love it. Very accurate for what it is when running Sake 55g SP Game Head through it. Consistent MOA at 100m. I'd like to think i will never sell this one. Its a 1:12 twist, believe the 1:8 twists are a little more accurate?

If and when i go bigger, 6.5 or 308, its a Sako S20 id be looking at so i dont envy your position…..

I have held both, both are close to being the same. Tikka looks well but basic model,

Sako has the nice fluted barrell but it is an older rifle

Tikka t3x least is a current model

Sako bolt was beautiful but it is 200 more and also older with less parts. Its the short bolt throw but that bolt release i realy like.

Tikka is proba better long term rifle.

Both are stainless 20" threadded. For target the non fluted barrell be better

if possible have a look at the bore with a borescope before making a decision.

If both were OK my choice would be the tikka as there are more aftermarket parts available if you decide to change anything.

both are private sales via dealer.

however tikka the dealer has scoped it and has said if needed i can get someone to double check it for me
