Making smoothie's, is a hand blender or regular blender better?

My issue is they keep coming out foamy and full with air, which means you can't really "drink" them properly.

A standard counter-top blender, anyone find that good for making smoothie's?

A "Vitamix" is apparently the best, but stupidly expensive.

So yeah hand blenders = frothy/foamy smoothies.

I'm assuming a counter-stop model will correct that.

Get yourself a Nutribullet. Never had any issues with the smoothies I make.

    Any specific one?

    Max volume is 450 ml?

Some I looked at on amazon are kind of high-roller prices.

kenwood stick blender in daily use in our house in a large jug from a soup maker. We make a kefir smoothie everyday for 5 people, frozen berries, juice, kefir and yoghurt. Kenwood stick blender is the business. Does about 1.5 litres at a time.

Have you tried just leaving it for a few minutes after blending? The frothiness would probably settle down a lot.

And/or stirring with a spoon, would probably knock a lot of the airiness out of it.

Yes, it's like the foam/air is locked in there.

What are you blending in your smoothie?

Banana, strawberry, blueberry and kiwi fruit (maybe a little frozen mango from time to time).

I had been adding a half glass of rolled oats, but excluded that this morning and it wasn't as frothy.
