Visit to the Ceide Fields

Can one visit the fields and park nearby during the off season? We're thinking of taking a ramble up there in the next few weeks. I know, bad weather, but we live in West Kerry, so no problem with that. Thanks.

It is not open all year round, maybe mayococo website has that information. If you are coming that far, and into a bit of history, check out the Jackie Clarke collection in Ballina.

I'd say you could wander around and nobody would stop you but unless you've an idea of what you're looking at or someone to explain it, it'd probably just look like a fairly normal boggy field

If you're passing through Straide, the Michael Davitt museum is worth an hour. Basic but interesting if you like history

No, the carpark & visitor centre will be closed but I'd say you could park at the gate and mooch around on your own
